Monument to Darth Vader

Probably one of the most unusual monuments in Odessa, which depicts not the real, but the invented character of the Star Wars movie epic Darth Vader.

Despite the mystery of the dark side, the creation of the monument is quite commonplace. In 2015 the monument to the leader of the proletariat, Lenin, was subject to demolition, but Odessa artist A. Milov decided to give him a second life and, having put titanium alloy parts on top, turned one famous character into another, no less famous throughout the world.

To take a picture with a Jedi Knight who has switched to the Dark side of the Force, and in the past Vladimir Lenin, you need to go to the Pressmash plant, which is located on Stovpova str., 28. The monument itself is located on the territory of the plant, but the guards have long been accustomed to let the tourists look at Vader.

Monument to Steve Jobs

An unusual monument in the shape of a huge hand with the Apple logo piercing through it is created from a huge number of screws, nuts and other small details in honor of the founder of the company – Steve Jobs. The inscription on the two-meter monument “Thanks, Steve” is embossed in Russian and English, and is fixed on its base on the front side.

You can admire this unusual monument, installed in 2012, taking a walk to Novoselskoho str.,  74/76. By the way, you can immediately use the free Wi-Fi, which distributes the device in the monument.

Monument to Orange

Or, as the people also call it the monument to a Bribe, it is located on Zhvanetskoho blvd. The monument is rich in various decorative elements, such as miniatures of famous Odessa buildings that found a place at the very top of an orange, a trio of horses with a cart, the figure of Paul I on the site of a falling lobule, and so on.

As the story tells, 3000 oranges sent to St. Petersburg to Paul I at the end of winter were a kind of bribe so that the emperor restored the financing of Odessa port for his favorite overseas fruits. It is worth saying that the bribe was successful, since funding was soon resumed.

Odessa courtyards

You can feel all the charm of Odessa and feel its unique flavor by walking along the courtyards and lanes.

• For example, on Hoholia str., 6 you can see a real well built in the middle of the 19th century.
• You can admire the unusual architecture, the mass of turrets and balconies located on a residential building, on Spyrydonivska str., 8.

Sculptures by A. Milov

Both Odessa city residents and residents of Odessa can admire unusual art objects authored by Odessa native Alexander Milov, however you will have to travel a bit for this.

The famous eight-meter composition “Love” is made of metal pipes and depicts two adults turned away from each other. Inside each adult is his soul in the form of a child, which, unlike adults, stretches to each other. The sculpture is located in the village of Kotovsky, which is the birthplace of the artist, on Heroiv Oborony str.

Another unusual sculpture of this artist – the figure of the Archangel Michael, impresses with its dimensions of 21 meters and weighing more than 10 kg. You can look at the object, which has an original illumination and no less original idea, in Odessa on Vodoprovidna str., to the Stalkanat plant, on the wall of which it is located.

Underwater museum

Walking in the summer on Langeron Beach, you can visit the unique underwater museum, which has appeared here since 2012. At 6-10 meters depth of there is a mass of a wide variety of statues, which you can only look at when going down with scuba diving.

Observatory

You can look at the original fifty-year-old telescope, listen to a lecture on space. All this can be done at the Odessa Observatory. It is worth saying that this scientific building is the oldest operating observatory in Ukraine.

Find this interesting and informative object in Shevchenko Park, but it’s better to go there in calm, calm weather with clear skies.

Green Theatre

The Green Theater in Odessa is called the theater and park space, which attracts with the possibility of lectures, workshops, concerts, festivals in the fresh air.

The events held here can be either free or for money, and the schedule and immediate plans can always be viewed on the theater’s Facebook page.

The Green Theater is located in Shevchenko Park, go to the right of the monument to Taras Hryhorovych, if you stand facing him.

Dubiecki and Pankejeff Manor “Wolf’s Lair”

This interesting but abandoned architectural object is unfortunately not located in Odessa itself, but 30 km away from it in Vasylivka village. However, if you like the spirit of adventure, you can go on a short trip and visit the creepy form of the estate, which once belonged to the most famous patient of Sigmund Freud – Sergei Pankejeff.

The estate has several names, the most popular can be considered: Wolf’s Lair, Manor of a human wolf. Most often, people come here for photo shoots and just admire the dilapidated walls of the once chic estate.
